halle got a big girl room

with the new baby coming in 10 days, you-know-who got a big girl room. it is complete with a big girl bed and plenty of pink. the only problem: she HATES it! not the room necessarily but the bed. we compromised and now she is sleeping in the new room in a port-a-crib. CRAZY KID!

just in case you want anything from her room:

darling flower painting by courtney hatch (she will work on commission)

dressers, bedside table, chair and ledges from ikea

carpet dots from FLOR

bed from home again and repainted by mitch cypers

lanterns from z gallery

curtains and ruffle sham from land of nod

stools and lamp (i added the rik rak) from target

the kid from heaven i guess but depending on the day you can have her too

thanks to my dad for helping me hang everything

Fabric Junkie

Ok I admit it... I love fabric.

They make the most darling prints now. I have piles of it just waiting to be created into some charming outfit. Some of my favorite designers are Patty Young, Paula Prass, Amy Butler, and Pillow and Maxfield just to name a few. I order most of it online at www.quilthome.com. They package it in tissue paper and tie it with twine. It is the most lovely package and it arrives in about 2 days. I love it!

And for more good news...KNITS!

I have had the hardest time finding cute knits. Halle's favorite outfits (and some of the most durable) are knit so I was so happy to see that Patty Young came out with a new line. Here they are...

Now if I just had more time to sew.

Cacti Frame

I found this great article in Sunset Magazine. It shows you how to make a little framed cacti garden. It was so fun I tried one for myself. Here is the how-to...

Start with a shadow box (I found mine at Micheals) and take the glass out.

You will also need:

a package of Spanish moss
a package of green moss
12 mini cacti
12 filler cacti
glue gun
scissors
First, place the spread the Spanish moss in the bottom of the box and glue it down.

Then, place your major cacti. Once you like the layout glue all of them down.

Be careful with the hot glue. I ALWAYS burn myself.
Then, add the filler cacti and the green moss to your own taste.

Go to Micheals for the shadow box and mosses. I found the best cacti online at http://www.qualitysilkplants.com/.

Voila, the finished product. It matches my walls.
